Deciding On The Layout

This is a very important decision and every chef and kitchen designer has his or her own ideas about the best way to set up the kitchen and place the appliances.

Remember that everyone has a different pattern for cooking. Take notes on your movements in the kitchen while you are cooking. Be sure to keep a list of the things you like and don’t like about the way your kitchen is laid out.

After you have decided, draw up your layout or get yourself a pre-made layout form.

Colour Your Kitchen

The look and feel of your kitchen will rest on your colour choices.

Which do you prefer: A more natural kitchen done in wood and soft colors, or a more contemporary look with splashes of bright color for the cabinets?

Would you rather have a tile floor, or do you prefer linoleum? Bold people enjoy vibrant colors with lots of contrast. More traditional people tend to prefer light and natural shades. The most important thing is to choose a look that makes you happy, because the kitchen is the heart of the home.

Coordinate Your Appliances

After you have chosen your colour scheme and your layout, you will be ready to choose the styles and colorus of appliances you want.

Be sure to take colour samples from your room when you visit the store to choose your appliances. Perhaps stainless steel would look nice, or maybe you want to try a colour like burgundy or blue.
